I have to say that I was quite impressed by the red carpet at this year’s Emmys Monday night! It was one colorful night!! There may be a few celebs who made my best-dressed list that don’t seem worthy of the honor, but I’ll explain why I chose each individual. Also, I must note that Sofia Vergara is not on my best-dressed list! While I thought she looked beautiful and her gown fit well, I’m tired of always seeing her in the mermaid-style gown. I understand and can respect that she goes with what she knows works for her body, but I just want her to take more risks and think outside the box a little!

As for the actual awards, I wish my favorite show Orange is the New Black would have won Best Comedy, but I am happy that Modern Family was given the honor for the fifth consecutive year! I also thought Billy Crystal’s ode to Robin Williams was beautiful. “Robin Williams. What a concept?”

January Jones in Prabal Gurung. January has her red carpet style down pat! This dress is beautifully designed. While at first it seems slightly too couture for the Emmys, the way it’s styled makes it perfect for the occasion! I also like the simple pulled-back hair and red lip. This was one of my favorites!
Gwen Stefani in Atelier Versace. Ahhh Gwen!! This look is so her! It’s rock and roll, edgy and unique! I love that she didn’t go with a traditional dress and, instead, went with separates! The detailing on the top is also gorgeous!! Love it!
Cat Deely in Burberry Prorsum. I love me some ombré! The dusty rose color on top is beautiful and I think Cat looks stunning!! I just wish the bow at the waist was smaller.
Behati Prinsloo in Prada with Adam Levine. This is one smokin’ hot couple!! They look great together and honestly Behati can do no wrong in my eyes! I love how they color-coordinated their ensembles. Behati looks like a true supermodel. Stunning! Just stunning.
Heidi Klum in Zac Posen with the designer. Cheers for Project Runway!! Zac described Heidi as a coral angel in his design and that is what she looked like. The back of the dress was flowy and wing-like. The color looked great against Heidi’s tan skin. I always get excited when the attendees opt for color on the red carpet!
Julia Roberts in Elie Saab Haute Couture. Julia was one of the few women to go with a short dress, but boy did she pull it off!! The color of the dress looked great on her and the embellishments made it look super expensive! I just hope I look like that when I’m her age!
Uzo Aduba in Christian Siriano. There was a lot of red on the red carpet Monday night, but Uzo’s dress was a standout! It fits her like a glove and the mermaid style really works for her! I’ve been really impressed with her red carpet looks lately. I guess it’s nice to get out of the orange jail suits she usually wears.
Sarah Paulson in Armani Privé. Yes, this dress has a lot of tulle!! However, I found myself attracted to the design. The dress has a gothic feel to it, yet it also seems kind of ethereal and girly because of the tulle. I was just happy to see Sarah take a risk!!
Taylor Schilling in Zuhair Murad Couture. My home girl Piper Chapman was absolutely gorgeous in this couture gown. She described it as a “non-color” gown, so whatever you wish to call the color, I loved it! Her up-do was the perfect hair style to let her dress shine — as it very much did!
Claire Danes in Givenchy Haute Couture with Hugh Dancy. Another red gown, but this one was quite different from the rest! There was more detail to this gown then the red ones worn by January Jones and Uzo Aduba. The lace detailing at the waist which led to the all-lace back was exquisite! I also loved the color of the dress. It was a nice twist to the traditional red dress.
Hayden Panetierre in Lorena Sarbu. She was just glowing!! This dress would have looked great on her had she not been pregnant, but I thought the baby bump was her best accessory. I love when women accentuate their changing body instead of hiding it under loads of fabric, so kudos to you Hayden!! You looked beautiful.
Julie Bowen in Peter Som. This is one hot mama. Julie is so toned and fit and this dress really shows off her amazing arms! I know she told Giuliana Rancic that she may get flack for choosing a printed dress, but I give her props for being different. While most attendees went for solid colors, Julie went the opposite direction and it definitely paid off! She looked amazing!
Taryn Manning in Azzaro. Talk about old Hollywood glam!! The curls, the gold, the makeup. Everything just screams old Hollywood! I’m not always a fan of gold, but I love Taryn and I thought she was able to pull it off! She wore the dress. The dress didn’t wear her.
Minnie Driver in Marchesa. I thought Minnie looked so good. It makes her look long and lean, not that she really needed help doing that! I’m not sure if the dress is red or a pink color, but it looks good on her regardless! Simple and sweet!
Jessica Paré in Lanvin. This dress made my list because of the shorter hemline. I like gowns that are different! I also like that the bottom of the skirt is simple because it helps balance the extravagant and embellished top. The statement necklace was a great addition!
Michelle Monaghan in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture. She is just so beautiful! I’m really loving the blonder locks too! This dress is something I would wear and that’s one of the reasons it made my list. Very simple. Very sleek. Very me. And Michelle looked beautiful in it!
Lena Dunham in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture with Jack Antonoff. I know what you all are thinking! How in the heck did Lena make my best-dressed list. Well, to answer that question, I chose to add her because she’s not afraid to be herself! She doesn’t care if she makes the worst-dressed list. She takes risks. That’s what fashion is about! As long as she feels confident, that’s all that matters. And Lena looked very happy on the red carpet! While I may not be fond of the top, I do love the ombré skirt!! It reminds me of the purple gown Zoe Saldana wore to the Academy Awards in 2010.
Kerry Washington in Prada. I love the design of this dress, but I’m not sure if I’m feeling it on Kerry. The color is beautiful on her, but it just seems ill-fitting. The top looks slightly droopy and the slit in the dress just seems stiff. I was on the bubble with this dress, but added it anyway! Let me know what you think.
Kaley Cuoco in Monique Lhuillier. Kaley always seems to disappoint me on the red carpet and when I first saw her gown Monday night, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it! But the more I looked at it, it grew on me. The dress itself is beautifully constructed and the layered skirt is gorgeous. I do feel that the dress would have been better suited for another occasion — maybe the Oscars — but I had to add it to my list.
