Yesterday I spent the day in DC for VegFest. I had heard about this event before, but never actually looked into it. But when I was at my internship last week, I happened to see a tweet advertising the event for this Saturday so my boyfriend and I decided to go. I mean the event is free so why not check it out, right?
The first 1,000 visitors also got a free goodie bag. I’m not usually one to try and get in line early for free stuff, but I had a change of heart for VegFest. I really wanted some free swag! So we decided to leave at 8:45 to head to the metro. But as luck would have it, we had to wait for 17 minutes before the orange line train left. Then, once we got to L’Enfant Plaza we had to wait nearly 30 minutes for the green line. I was getting so impatient and pretty much losing any hope of getting my swag. When we got to the Navy Yard stop, some people began running to get in line. While I did really want some free stuff, I’m not a runner –whatsoever. With all that being said…I ended up with some swag!! Between my boyfriend and I, we got five free bags and loads of vegetarian snacks.
All in all, I really enjoyed the event. There were loads of stands with information on animal rights and protection and lots of good food. There was this one dessert stand that had so many good looking treats like cannolis and shortcake, but the line was über long. I waited for maybe 10 minutes and then decided it wasn’t worth it. I’m sure the desserts were amazing, but I was getting hot and sweaty standing in line! Hehe. These are the struggles of my life.
Anywho, this romper was my outfit for yesterday’s festivities. I wanted to wear something easy and light since it was supposed to be sunny and warm, but I still wanted to look cute. And as usual, I loved the floral print. (I never actually realized how many florals I wore until looking through my blog posts.)
Hope you all are enjoying your weekend and remember, even if you’re not a vegetarian/vegan — eat your vegetables!
