I like the People’s Choice Awards because they are more casual than the upcoming awards shows. It’s not all floor-length gowns. There’s a nice mix of short frocks, jumpsuits, two pieces and dresses.
Last night’s red carpet featured many jumpsuits, as seen on Ellen Pompeo, Portia de Rossi and Kaley Cuoco, as well as quite a few menswear-inspired looks, as seen on Bella Thorne, Ariel Winter and Melissa McCarthy. Overall I was pretty impressed with the majority of last night’s ensembles and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Golden Globes!
Sarah Hyland in Christian Siriano. She has been killing it in the fashion department lately. I love how this dress is a mini masked as a midi with the sheer skirt. It’s just the right amount of bling and the color looks great against her skin.
Ellen DeGeneres with Portia de Rossi in Zuhair Murad. Such a cute couple! Ellen is looking nice in all-white, but it’s Portia who steals the show in this deep-V electric blue jumpsuit! She looks statuesque and I love the geometric details on the top.
Ellen Pompeo in Elie Saab. This is one of my absolute favorite looks from last night because it mixes three of my favorite things — lace, neutrals and jumpsuits. I like that Ellen kept her hair up so that the jumpsuit could shine and the color looks great on her!
Stana Katic in Carolina Herrera. Stana went a little more glam for the red carpet, but looked great nonetheless. I like the embellishments on the gown because they’re not too over the top. I wish her hair was either a little more loose or in a side braid, but overall I like the look.
Katharine McPhee in Balmain. Hot damn Katharine! She looks amazing in this curve-hugging number! While she shows a bit of skin, she still looks classy and I really love the mix of color blocking on top and stripes on the bottom.
Kat Dennings in Ludmila Corlateanu. This was another one of my favorites. Kat looks like a gothic goddess in this lace dress. It’s the right mix of sultry and glam and the black looks great against her porcelain skin.
Bella Thorne in Armani. Bella totally rocked the menswear look last night! And she did it while still looking feminine and sexy with a little bit of cleavage and midriff showing. Love it!
Giuliana Rancic in Tony Ward. I love the mint color of Giuliana’s dress and though it is slightly girly for my tastes, it looks great on her. I would have toned down the makeup slightly, but she looks beautiful and I love the old Hollywood glam hairstyle.
Renee Bargh in Misha Collection. First off, let me just say that I love Renee’s hair! It’s the perfect sun-kissed lob (long bob). But I love her dress too and it’s pretty affordable at $365. It is quite sexy with the bustier top and sheer lace skirt, but it’s still tasteful!
Chloë Grace Moretz in Louis Vuitton. I love that Chloë isn’t afraid to take risks and that she opted for a two-piece ensemble last night. The white top is a nice contrast to the dark striped skirt. The outfit has a little bit of edge too, which I always like.
Olivia Munn in Giambattista Valli Couture. I really liked this dress and how the stripes gradually got smaller as the dress neared the ankles. I would have done the hair differently, but overall I thought Olivia looked great.
Melissa McCarthy in her own design. This is Melissa at her finest. The structured ensemble is slimming and very flattering. I liked that she was getting a little more edgy with this look!
Lisa Edelstein in Naeem Khan. I’m a big fan of halter dresses and Lisa looks amazing in this gown. She has a killer figure so it’s hard for her to look bad! And the loose curls keep it casual.
Kaley Cuoco in Peggy Hartanto. I saw that Kaley made some worst-dressed lists in this jumpsuit, but I really loved it! This is something I would totally wear. The black and white look classy and the cutouts add some sex appeal and edge. I may have liked it better if the pants were fitted, but I definitely don’t think it deserved to be on the worst-dressed list.
Gina Rodriguez in Unknown. Now I’m not a huge fan of this dress, but I’m a fan of Gina and I thought she looked stunning last night! I wish the gown wasn’t so bulky and poofy at the bottom, but I do like the print. I also love her hair and makeup! I can’t wait to see what she wears to the Golden Globes.
Kelly McCreary in Unknown. I would love to own this dress! I like the pattern and the black/green color (at least that’s what I think it is). I also like the midriff cutout — I’m quite a fan of cut outs!
Sadie Calvano in Unknown. I’m not usually a fan of camo print, but I thought it looked quite elegant on Sadie last night. Maybe it’s the addition of turquoise in the print. Who knows? But I really liked this look, as well as Sadie’s hair and makeup!
