The Grammys are a chance for musicians and celebrities to take more risks and go all out! The ensembles don’t have to be as polished and regal. Unfortunately, this can lead some to choose really out-there outfits that have no place on a red carpet let alone anywhere (cough cough Charli XCX). There were some looks that were absolutely atrocious, but for every bad look there was another breathtaking gown or jumpsuit that stole the show!
Rihanna looked like a princess in her voluminous pink Giambattista Valli gown and Katy Perry was dripping in jewels in her Zuhair Murad dress — both looks came right from the runway. And Este, Danielle and Alana Haim looked fabulous as per usual. I’m so in love with them and their cool Cali vibe! To see more of my favorites, check out my best dressed below:
Rihanna in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture. She came into the Grammys at just about the last second, but damn did she know how to make an entrance. This look was so different than the edgy ensembles we usually see her in, but nevertheless she totally rocked it. She looked like a princess! I’m not sure how she fit in a seat, but she looked darn good!
Katy Perry in Zuhair Murad Haute Couture. I’m loving the lavender locks!! And her gown was pretty hot too! I loved the tassel detailing and the sheer bodice. This dress was totally Katy!
Gwen Stefani in Versace. Gwen is just so edgy. I wish I had her confidence because she can rock absolutely anything! I loved this jumpsuit and the architectural detailing at the top. When the look came down the runway, the legs went all the way to the ground, but I thought this look worked best for Gwen (and made it easier to walk).
Este, Danielle and Alana Haim in Chloé and Stella McCartney. These ladies looked lovely last night. I don’t know if they planned to coordinate in all black and white, but I loved each of their looks. Este rocked the sheer faux fringe gown and Danielle stayed true to her tomboyish style in the all-white suit. My favorite, though, was Alana in the Stella McCartney jumpsuit!
Taylor Swift in Elie Saab. I was blown away when I saw her on the red carpet! The color of this gown is gorgeous and I loved the slight ombré effect at the midriff. The color and her perfectly matching accessories made her blue eyes pop! I also loved that she added a surprise pop of color with the hot pink heels! Perfection.
Jessie J in Ralph & Russo. The black gown and Jessie’s black hair made for an overall gothic look that I loved. I liked the sheer bodice and skirt and the detailing throughout!
Beyoncé in Proenza Schouler. Beyoncé always rocks the curve-hugging gowns! I liked the sheer skirt and deep V. It was contrasted by the long sleeve to ensure she didn’t show too much skin. Oh and her hair was great. I loved the long loose waves.
Anna Kendrick in Band of Outsiders. Is there anything better than a woman in a suit? I loved the masculine flair of her outfit, yet she still looks feminine and sexy with the deep V of her suit jacket.
Iggy Azalea in Armani Privé. I don’t know if Iggy’s ever looked better. This gown hugged her in all the right places and looked great against her skin. I loved the playful hints of skin at the shoulder and right under the bust. I wish she would have had any other hairstyle, but she still looked great in this dress.
Miranda Lambert in Gabriela Cadena. This gown would have been just a bit too simple and boring if it weren’t for the pop of hot pink. It was so unexpected and really made the gown stand out. I also liked the cut outs right at her midriff (very similar to Iggy’s dress).
Miley Cyrus in Alexandre Vauthier. I was quite surprised that Miley didn’t go all out and sport something completely insane. This gown was way more toned than I thought it would be, but I still loved it. The dress showed a lot more skin than most people would be comfortable with and some of the cut outs were in slightly odd places, but she looked so gorgeous. And I loved her hair too!
Kim Kardashian West in Jean Paul Gauthier. I really liked this gown and I thought she looked stunning. Everything from her makeup to her hair was on par, but I did feel the gown overwhelmed her. She’s only 5’3″ and I think this dress would look better on someone who is taller. There was just so much going on with the shoulder pads and embellished sleeves and pockets. With all that said, I still thought she rocked it and looked beautiful. That is why she made my best dressed list.
Katharine McPhee in Emilio Pucci. I loved the color of this gown and how it showed quite a bit of skin at the waist. I also loved how her hair photographed. When Ryan Seacrest interviewed her on the red carpet I thought her hair looked greasy, but luckily it didn’t photograph like that.
Chrissy Teigen in Emilio Pucci. Chrissy is always a babe! I loved how this gown had long sleeves and a high neck, but still managed to show skin with the snake-like twists of sheer fabric that went all the way to the floor. It was just the right amount of sexy!
Kat Graham in Yanina Couture. I’m not sure if the print on Kat’s sheer gown is meant to look like a flower or not, but I love that it was abstract. I think it looked like petals falling off a flower, but maybe it was meant to look like rain drops — who knows? Kat usually has an edgy style and I thought she rocked this sheer ensemble.
Jhene Aiko in Alberta Ferretti. Alberta is known for her girly and ethereal gowns and this dress was no exception, but I loved how Jhene made it look so much edgier with her makeup and tattoos. I loved the construction of the bodice — it almost looked like it was made of feathers. Since there was so much detail on the top, I thought the simple white skirt was the perfect way to finish out the dress.
Ciara in Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture. This gown was so voluminous, yet it didn’t make Ciara look big. The dress was constructed so beautifully and it looks like waves cascading down Ciara’s body. The gold belt was the perfect addition to give her shape amidst all of the fabric.
Jane Fonda in Balmain. I mean look at this woman and her body! She’s 77 years old!! Jane looked amazing in this jumpsuit. I think the belt was a little too wide and the necklace was a little too long, but I couldn’t resist including her in my best dressed list because she is so drop dead gorgeous! I hope I can look this good at 77.
Giuliana Rancic in Inbal Dror. I’m always a fan of a good jumpsuit and this one was so extravagant it had to make my best dressed list. I loved the sheer paneling down the whole length of the pant leg along with the sheer fabric in the top. This jumpsuit was the perfect mix of edge and glamour!
Giuliana Rancic in Steven Khalil. And here is Giuliana yet again. This look was one of my absolute favorites of the night! She may not have been a nominee or a performer, but this gown was a showstopper!! I loved the bandeau-like element on the top and the slit down the sleeves! She looked like a goddess in this gown. Everything was perfect: her hair, her makeup, her accessories!! Ahh, so in love!
